THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

We are not trying to discourage you from modifying your NEV, however we do believe you should have all the information to help you make your decision.

WARNING Faster Cars Will Run Hotter.

This is true, weather you change Tires, Gears, or Programming.

 TIRES:

Larger tires require additional torque to overcome inertia thereby demanding more current, this causes heat. Larger tires also reduce braking forces, it would be same if you were to use a smaller brake rotor or drum, and this also causes heat but only to the brake components.

 GEARS:

High Speed Gears reduce torque and this also requires more current to overcome inertia.

 PROGRAMMING:

Here is where you must be careful. Increase the acceleration ramp too much and surge current will cause high temps. Increase regen braking too much and the motor can overheat during regen braking. Higher Speed, this one is simple, greater demand equals greater current flow equals greater heat.

 TIPS for PROGRAMMING:

Do not make your settings to extreme. Allow the motor to become “SEASONED” slowly, take the motor up to the new speed for a very brief period and then allow it to cool. Do this several times until the motor becomes “SEASONED”, we don’t like to use the term “Burned In”. Do NOT drive at higher speeds for long periods of time, if you need to go fast all the time choose a different vehicle.
